Safety Rail Source skylight screens from Logistics Lighting

Safety Rail Source makes OSHA-compliant fall protection for roofs, including the Saf-T-Screen skylight screens that cover corrugated-panel skylights on metal buildings. Logistics Lighting distributes the Safety Rail Source products listed above, quotes them against the skylight panel size, and ships direct from the factory.

What we carry from Safety Rail Source

Saf-T-Screens. The SCS36120G is a Galfan-coated steel screen for 3 x 10 foot corrugated skylights, the translucent panels that replace a section of metal roof panel on pre-engineered buildings. It covers the panel from above so a worker who steps on the skylight is held by the screen, meeting the OSHA 1910.28 requirement that a skylight 4 feet or more above a lower level be protected. Other sizes and railing systems from Safety Rail Source are quoted on request.

Why corrugated skylights need screens

A corrugated fiberglass or polycarbonate skylight panel looks like the metal panels around it, weathers to the same color, and will not hold a person's weight once it has aged. OSHA counts these panels as holes in the roof, and falls through them are among the most common roofing fatalities. A screen over the panel is the simplest fix because it needs no change to the panel or the roof structure and stays in place through re-roofing. The FAQ covers the OSHA load requirement (400 lb or twice the intended load) and the difference between interior and exterior screens.

Where Safety Rail Source fits in our catalog

Safety Rail Source covers the metal-building corrugated skylight, which curb-mount screens do not fit. For curb-mount dome skylights the screens come from Kingspan Light + Air (SSCRN interior screens and Gladiator cages), Curbs Plus (Z-frame interior screens), Sunoptics (CLPOG guards and ESFP exterior screens) and VELUX (CAE exterior and CRGA interior screens). Roof-edge guardrail is from Kattsafe. All of these are on the roof access and fall protection page, and the 3 x 10 curbs and skylights the SCS36120G sits over are on the roof curbs and skylights pages.
