Kattsafe makes aluminum roof access and fall protection systems: the KattGuard freestanding guardrail, the RL series fixed ladders, ladder protectors, hatch guardrails and landing platforms. What we carry from Kattsafe

KattGuard GR34 freestanding guardrail. The GR34 12 foot kit is a non-penetrating aluminum guardrail that sits on weighted bases with protective pads, so it protects a roof edge or an equipment area without cutting into the membrane. The kit includes the 20 foot rail section, two 5 foot returns, base pads, the installation tool kit and manual, and it extends with additional sections.

RL series fixed ladders. Structural aluminum (6106-T6) with serrated square rungs at 12 inch spacing and a 42 inch stile extension above the landing, OSHA and ANSI compliant. The RL20 is the angled-mount model, the RL30 mounts vertically, and the RL40 is the vertical caged version. Each is available in several variations for landing configuration and height, which we confirm on the quote.

Access accessories. The GRLP ladder protector is a 10 foot lockable aluminum cover with a self-closing gate that keeps unauthorized people off an exterior ladder, supplied with a platform mounting kit for membrane roofs. The KG hatch guardrail clamps to a roof hatch without penetrations, adjusts to the common hatch sizes (30 x 36, 36 x 36, 30 x 54, 48 x 48, 30 x 96) and takes an optional self-closing gate. The KD001 landing platform gives portable ladders a secure attachment point at the roof edge.

Code notes

OSHA 1910.23 covers fixed ladders: non-slip rungs, 7 inch toe clearance, a 36 inch extension above the landing and fall protection on ladders that climb more than 24 feet. Since the 2018 update, cages are no longer required on new ladders; a personal fall-arrest or ladder safety system is preferred. Guardrails around hatches and roof edges are covered by 1910.28 and 1910.29, with a 42 inch top rail.
