  • Description

The Kattsafe RL30 series is a vertical fixed ladder in lightweight, high-strength aluminum that gives permanent OSHA and ANSI compliant access to a roof or platform. It is modular, ships flat-packed to cut freight, assembles on site, and is offered with grab rails, a parapet platform or walkway platforms to suit the landing. Heights of 24 feet and more are handled with Kattsafe's vertical ladder fall arrest system. Logistics Lighting quotes the RL30 to your landing and ships direct from Kattsafe.

Key features of the RL30 series

    • Five landing configurations. RL31 grab rails, RL32 parapet platform, RL33 and RL34 8 foot walkway platforms, RL35 3 foot walkway platform.
    • Industrial rating. 1,000 lb unit load and 1,000 lb per rung without failure; suited to high-frequency use.
    • Ergonomic serrated rungs. 1-1/4 inch square 6106-T6 rungs at 12 inch spacing.
    • Modular and quick. Splice-jointed sections cut to height on site; minimum lead time; flat-pack shipping.
    • Compliance and warranty. Meets OSHA 1910.23 and 1910.28 and Cal-OSHA 3277; five-year warranty.

    Specifications

    • Material: 5000 and 6000 series structural aluminum, stainless fasteners; stiles 6106-T6 2-1/4 x 1-1/2 x 1/8 in; mill finish, powder coat available
    • Overall width 23-3/4 in; between stiles 20-5/8 in, widening to 24 in at the ladder head
    • Stile extension above the landing 42 in
    • Clearance behind the ladder 7 in minimum; platform required above 12 in; rest platforms at most every 150 ft
    • Weight: 6.4 lb per 40 in body section
    • Kit heights under 24 ft: RL31 to 53, 100, 147, 195 and 240 in; RL32 and RL33 to 47, 94, 141, 188, 234 and 283 in
    • Mounting: LD421.280 wall bracket standard; LD419F non-penetrating base plate or LD419S floor mount; options for metal, standing seam and membrane roofs

    Fall protection above 24 feet

Since OSHA's 2018 update, fixed ladders over 24 feet on new installations need a personal fall arrest or ladder safety system rather than a cage. Kattsafe's vertical lifeline system fits the RL30, and we quote it through the lifeline and anchor point worksheet. Where a cage is still specified, see the RL40. For climbs under 16 feet, the angled RL20 is easier to use. Complete the landing with the GRLP ladder protector and a hatch guardrail or GR34 edge rail.

    Frequently asked questions

What information does Kattsafe need? The climb height, wall and floor substrate types, the wall-to-ladder-centerline distance and any gutter or obstruction, plus parapet height and width for the RL32.

Is a ladder over 24 feet available? Yes, with the fall arrest system; ask us to quote both together.

How is it delivered? Flat-packed in kit form for assembly on site; the ladder base is cut to the exact height during installation.

    How to get a quote

Send the ladder worksheet or call 307-633-9696 with the climb height, landing type and substrates. We confirm the configuration and current lead time on the quote. The data sheet and configuration drawings are in the Documents tab.
