Roof Curbs

Roof Curbs

Logistics Lighting supplies prefabricated roof curbs for skylights, smoke vents and rooftop equipment on commercial and industrial buildings. A roof curb is the raised metal frame that fastens to the deck, gets flashed into the membrane, and carries the skylight or vent above the roof surface; getting its inside dimension, height and gauge right is what makes the unit on top fit and the roof stay dry. We distribute curbs from AES Industries, Curbs Plus and VELUX Commercial, quote them against the skylight or vent going on them, and ship direct from the fabricator.

Roof curbs by manufacturer

AES Industries. The ARC3 is a pre-insulated curb with a factory-installed 6 x 6 inch safety grid, offered in 9, 12 and 16 inch heights: see the 4896 ARC3 12H, 4896 ARC3 9H and 4896 ARC3 16H for a 4 x 8 opening, the 4040 ARC3 in 14 gauge for 4 x 4, and the 36120 ARC3 for 3 x 10 corrugated-panel skylights. The ARC6 is a non-insulated curb, field insulated, with a 4 x 4 inch safety screen (CG) or no screen (NG): 4896 ARC6 14H CG, 4848 ARC6 14H CG, 4848 ARC6 12H 14GA, 4872 ARC6 NG, 5060 ARC6 and 6060 ARC6 NG. The 4896 ARC6 CG for VELUX smoke vents drops the screen 1 inch below the curb top so the vent mechanism clears it. AES also builds the AES-3 equipment support rail curb with a 2 x 4 wood nailer in 8, 10 and 12 inch heights and 48, 96 and 120 inch lengths, such as the AES-3 10H 96L.

Curbs Plus. The CPC-3 is an insulated curb (1.5 inch rigid insulation with a white faced liner) with a 4 inch on-center safety screen, 12 inch high, 18 gauge: CPC-3 4896, CPC-3 4848, CPC-3 6060, CPC-3 6072 and CPC-3 36120. The CPC-4 is the non-insulated version, 14 inch high with a white-primed interior, in 4896, 4848, 6060, 6072 and 36120. For metal buildings the CPM-3 36120 has a water diverter and R-panel rib covers so it sits on a ribbed roof panel. Both lines can be ordered with a 6 x 6 screen, 5 inch on-center burglar bars or no screen, and in 10 and 12 inch heights.

VELUX Commercial. The CCAM 4896 is a pre-insulated 12 inch aluminum curb with a fiberboard nailer, built to pair with the VELUX Dynamic Dome and ULSV2 smoke vents on the same 48 x 96 opening. The CAV 4896 is a louvered ventilation curb extension with a rain defender for skylights that need to move air.

Inside dimension, outside dimension and height

Curbs are named by inside dimension in inches: a 4896 curb is 48 x 96 inside and, with 1.5 inch walls, about 51 x 99 outside. The skylight or vent frame is sized to the outside dimension, so when you replace an existing unit measure the curb outside, including any flashing or membrane wrapped over it, and compare it with the frame inside dimension shown on each product page. Curb height is set by the architect or the roofing manufacturer's details; 8 inches above the finished roof is a common minimum and 12 to 14 inches is typical for insulated roofs and smoke vents. Gauge (14 or 18) is a structural choice for larger openings and higher wind loads. Our roof curb spec sheets and shop drawings page has the manufacturer drawings, and the product identification guide helps you measure what is already on the roof.

Safety screens and fall protection

Most curbs here can be ordered with a factory-installed safety grid, which is the simplest way to meet OSHA 1910.28 fall protection for skylights, because the screen is in place before the skylight is set and never has to be added later. If you are pairing a curb with an operable smoke vent, order the curb with an interior screen (or the VELUX-specific ARC6) rather than an exterior screen, which would block the vent doors. Screens, cages and guards for existing curbs are on the fall protection page.

How to get a quote

Send the roof curb request-for-quote worksheet or call 307-633-9696 with the quantity, inside dimension, height, insulated or not, screen option and the skylight or vent the curb will carry. When you are buying the skylight or smoke vent from us as well, we check both cut sheets against each other so the two parts arrive as a matched set.
