Commercial skylights

Curb-mount dome skylights for flat and low-slope roofs from Sunoptics, VELUX Commercial, Kingspan Light + Air, Taylon and Birdview. The most-quoted units are the VELUX CMD2 4896, the Sunoptics SMD 4080 and the Kingspan 4896 KT11, all for a 4 x 8 curb, with sizes from 2 x 4 up to 6 x 6 available. Smoke vents

UL-listed and FM-rated automatic smoke and heat vents from Sunoptics, Kingspan, VELUX and Taylon, in operable double-door and melt-out designs with 212, 360 or 370 F fusible links. Start with the Sunoptics SSVT 4080, the Kingspan 4896 A ULSV or the VELUX ULSV2DCM 4896. The smoke vents page explains link temperatures, listings and which safety screens each type accepts.

Roof curbs

Insulated and non-insulated curbs from AES Industries and Curbs Plus, plus VELUX aluminum curbs, in 4040 through 36120 sizes and 9 to 16 inch heights, most with a factory-installed safety grid. The AES 4896 ARC3 and Curbs Plus CPC-3 4896 are the standard 4 x 8 insulated curbs. Sizing rules and shop drawings are on the roof curbs page.

Roof ladders, hatches and fall protection

Kattsafe fixed ladders and guardrails, Bilco, Babcock Davis and Dur-Red roof hatches with hatch railings, and interior and exterior skylight safety screens from Kingspan, Curbs Plus, Sunoptics, VELUX and Safety Rail Source. Typical picks are the KattGuard GR34 guardrail, the Bilco S-20 hatch and the Kingspan 4896 SSCRN screen. How model numbers and sizes work

Products are named by nominal curb size. Most manufacturers use inches (4896 is a 48 x 96 inch curb inside dimension); Sunoptics uses feet and inches (4080 is 4 ft by 8 ft, the same opening). Every product page lists the frame or curb dimension the unit is built to, and the terminology glossary and product identification guide help you measure an existing roof opening. Manufacturer cut sheets and 3-part specifications are attached to each product and collected on the resources page.
